Wirral Baby Nest was born in 2025, out of a growing awareness of the state of poverty on the Wirral. We aim to provide essential baby items, from pre-loved clothing, to toiletries and blankets, to families who are experiencing hardship in our local area.

On the Wirral alone, over 16,000 children live in poverty. According to moneyhelper.org.uk, a family will spend on average £600 on baby supplies in the first month of a baby’s life. We want to help relieve the stress and financial burden from families who may already be struggling to support themselves.

To access Wirral Baby Nest, families need to be referred to our service. This can be a self referral, or one from a professional. Referrals can be completed via a form on our website which asks for some details as to what is needed and some more info. Please note that if you have self referred twice, any further referrals will have to be from a professional.

By recycling pre-loved clothing, we help reduce waste and give second hand clothing a new lease of life. We accept donations of excellent condition, clean clothing, as well as brand new, unopened toiletries. Please see our “Get Involved” page for more info. Donations are then sorted and ironed at our Hub, before they’re placed into bundles, ready for collection.

Once ready, bundles can then be collected by a pre-arranged visit to our hub or one of our collection points. Bundles can be collected by the individual (if self referral) or the professional (if a professional referral). In the future we’d love to be able to deliver parcels to beneficiaries around the Wirral.

Our hope at Wirral Baby Nest is to make the pressure and financial burden associated with early parenthood lighter, which can then help relieve poverty and hardship. We also aim to signpost families to other organisations and charities who may be able to assist further, to improve quality of life and give these families a boost as they start this journey together.
